Hi friends,
It's becoming more and more exciting each month when my Ipsy Glam Bag shows up on my door steps. I am so glad I am subscribing to this makeup sample monthly "bag" as it is saving me oodles of money on makeup!
If you are new to my blog or youTube Channel, Ipsy is a monthly makeup subscription, for $10/month, you receive a cosmetic bag filled with up to 5 samples, some are travel sizes, others are full size. This is my third bag this year and so far, I have been very pleased with the items I have received. So, without further ado, let us dive into the full review for the April 2014 bag! Doesn't it look awesome already?
1. Dr. Brandt - Microdermabrasion - Skin Exfoliant - $78/2 oz
This is a product I have tried in the past, probably from another sample subscription I receive. It is an okay microdermabrasion, which is not the same thing as a scrub. This one, I recall, is very similar to Mary Kay's Microdermabrasion system, at least in texture. It feels like a fluid cream filled with tiny sand like beads. I prefer microdermabrasion to regular scrubs in that the grit itself is made of same size particles as apposed to pieces and chunks of seeds for instance. It is a good product with a light citrus scent but I don't think it is the best on the market and the price is prohibitive to me ($78 / 2oz). I still prefer my option of mixing baking soda with my cleanser. B.
2. Big Sexy Hair - Root Pump - $17.95 / 17 oz
This is another product I have used in the past. I don't put a lot of product on my hair, I find that the following day I need to wash it off otherwise my hair looks dull and unmanageable. This is a good one if you have some kind of event you need to attend and want an extra lift with hold or if you hair is heavy and straight and just can shape it any other way than flat. I find that the mist is fine enough to provide coverage without creating "hot spots" and the effects lasts pretty much all day. I just don't like the fact that we are still using aerosol cans for hair products. B+.
Other Big Sexy Hair products I like:
Big Sexy Hair Salon Travel Kit - $ 12.99
This is actually a good purchase worth the price, sometimes travel sizes cost more, not the case here and you get to try their shampoos and conditioners as well.
Big Sexy Hair Blow Dry Volumizing Gel - 8.... $ 16.99
This is great for blow drying or flat iron processing. I find that it leaves my hair silky smooth, no frizz!
3. Cailyn - Lip Balm in Apple Pink - $19.00
Well, here is an interesting product and before I delve into the actual formula and color (which I like), let me start with what I do not like: the packaging!
I think of tinted lip balm as an on-the-go pick me up, something I can throw in my purse or better yet, tuck in my pocket. I am not sure what the company has in mind here but the packaging is just not working, at least for me it's not. Sure it comes with it's own brush, neatly inserted into the lid, but this is taking way too much space into a cosmetic bag, never mind a pocket. That being said, it is rather neat and innovative, so I guess that leaves me confused, I am not sure whether I hate it or love it!
Moving on, the formula is outstanding! This is a creamy, velvety, almost matte lip balm which I find to be very pigmented, it's almost a lipstick! The color I received is Apple Pink and is perfect for my fair skin tone. And it does not bulge. So if you like long staying lip color that is not drying (as they often do) this is for you! Great product, I recommend it if you don't mind the packaging. A-. (It would be an A+ and Wall of Fame if it were not for the packaging).
4. Urban Decay - 24/7 - Glide On Velvet Eye Liner - $20
I really like Urban Decay, their products are always excellent quality with great results and staying power and let me tell you, this liner packs some serious punch!
I don't think I have ever tried a liner with that much staying power, the stuff is not going anywhere! It's just too bad they only offer the jet black version as I would love to try on a dark brown or maybe a plum. I love this! A+.
5. Elizabeth Mott - Pop! Goes the shadow in Champagne - $12.99
This is such a gorgeous color, perfect as a highlighter or over the lid. I usually prefer matte shadows, but this one has just the right amount of shimmer that it does not look over the top. Elizabeth Mott has two other shades in this collection, and I want them all! A+.
So there you have it, the April Ipsy Glam Bag! Another great one!

2. Big Sexy Hair - Root Pump - $17.95 / 17 oz
The Sexy Hair Root Pump Volumizing Spray Mousse helps create big volume by pumping up hair at the root. It dispenses out as a spray and turns into a mousse to give tresses tons of volume. Apply to damp hair at the root to achieve phenomenal lift or to dry hair to activate textural volume. Resists humidity and provides lift, fullness and medium hold. Great for fine/medium hair types.
