How do you make money on YouTube?

YouTube pays their partners per 1000 views through advertising before and during the videos. Some ads are actual breaks, others are only overlays. Payment depends on the region. Usually Australia has the highest CPM (Cost Per 1000). The creator can decide where to put the ads by creating natural breaks in the video or let YouTube decide where the ads go. Obviously the more ads the more income. You need to have at least 1000 subscribers before reaching earning status. Creators also add links in the description box for affiliate programs such as Amazon. YouTubers earn an income each time a linked product is purchased.

How do you make money blogging?

Similar to YouTube, Google Adsense will insert advertising in the blog (blogger decide where these advertisements go). Each time a blog is viewed, it generates an income. Bloggers also use affiliate links to specific products.

I do not care for the ads on your videos - most are for products or companies I do not support. Can you remove/change them?

I do not have any control on what type of ads will be showcased in my videos. Google makes that decision based on their current contracts as well as your browser history.
